Gastroenterologist
Dr. Rajiv Bansal is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist who has been practicing on Long Island since 1996. Dr. Bansal earned his medical degree from Brown University Medical School in 1989. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Duke University Medical Center in 1992, and he completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1995.
After he completed his education and training, Dr. Bansal was hired by North Shore University Hospital in 1996. He was specifically employed to initiate the Endoscopic Ultrasound Program for GI cancer staging and was the first Gastroenterologist Long Island to perform this highly advanced examination. Dr. Bansal is recognized as an expert in the use of endoscopic ultrasound, diagnosing and staging of gastrointestinal malignancies, endoscopic resection (EMR) of early esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and large colon polyps, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for Barrett’s esophagus, biliary and pancreatic endoscopy (ERCP), pancreas pseudocyst drainage, pancreas necrosectomy, fiducial placement, and luminal stent placement.
Physician Assistant
Avigayil Neuburger became a nationally certified Physician Assistant in 2011. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Queens College in 2009, where she graduated as a Presidential Scholar, as well as a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. She completed her training as a Physician Assistant at Touro College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a member of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society in 2011. Avigayil started her career as a Physician Assistant at Montefiore Medical Center, where she provided perioperative care for patients who underwent cardiothoracic surgery, including ventricular assist device placement and heart transplantation. In 2015, she joined the Rajiv Bansal MD PC, where she has been providing comprehensive, compassionate care for patients, both in office and hospital settings. Avigayil holds privileges at both North Shore University Hospital and St. Francis Hospital.
